Your Great Northeast Kingdom
Your hosts, Guy and Sharon Daniels,
welcome you to the Green Mountain Lodge and Island Pond, VT.
Long-time Northeast Kingdom Fans, having enjoyed the area for
many years. Guy and Sharon felt this is where they had to make
Guy and Sharon whom are not only the hosts and owners of the
Green Mountain Lodge, but are also avid outdoors people and
purchased the former Clyde River Hotel in October 2012 and started welcoming guests almost immediately!
The Green Mountain Lodge, is newly renovated and nestled in the
mountains of Northeastern Vermont, famously know as "The
Northeast Kingdom". The Green Mountain Lodge is a Vermont country lodging
experience with its antique structure dating back to the mid
1800's and picturesque setting.
The Green Mountain Lodge, originally The Essex Hotel, was built
in 1866 and offers a glimpse of the past with many of it's
original beams, ceilings, floors and stairway. Later named The
Osbourne Hotel, the establishment acquired a reputation based,
in part, on the free spiritedness of the era.
The lodge, open year round, enjoys fabulous water views of Lake
Island Pond from the east and the Clyde River from the west
which flows north and underneath the hotel which empties into
Lake Memphremagog in Newport VT.
The Green Mountain Lodge accommodates guests who enjoy spring,
summer, fall and winter area sports and attractions. The town of
Island Pond is home to the sandy shores of its beautiful lake
that is conveniently located across the street, the area as well
Hiking, ATV, and VAST Snowmobile trails. Island Pond also
offers, tennis courts, boat rentals and the Friday Night Live
Outdoor Summer Concert Series. Island Pond is also the Gateway
to the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge
Nulhegan Basin along with the West Mountain Wildlife Management
Area and others. The area also offers great camping, fishing and
hunting experiences. Many of Vermont's trophy size fish, deer and
moose come from this area of the Northeast Kingdom.
The VAST Snowmobile Trail System brings many visitors to the
area during the winter season. We are located directly on The
VAST Trail. In the winter, after a fine breakfast, snowmobilers
step outside and ride. Don't worry about parking your trailers.
We have plenty of room for snowmobile trailer parking. Located
in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, the Green
Mountain Lodge caters to snowmobilers who enjoy the trails from
late December until the end of March.
Skiing at Burke Mountain and Jay Peak Ski Areas are each just a
30 minute drive away.
